Wiggins, a senior from Norfolk, Va., starts at defensive back for the Trojans and led the team in interceptions a year ago. He is majoring in Physical Education and carries a 3.237 grade point average.

"The Draddy Trophy is one of college football's most sought after and competitive awards," said NFF Chairman Archie Manning. Each school competing at the NCAA Division I, I-AA, II, III and NAIA were allowed to nominate one senior player from their football teams. Wiggins is one of 15 Division II football players selected as semi-finalists and the only CIAA football player selected.

Semifinalists must be either seniors or graduate students in their final year of eligibility, have a GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first-team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. This is the second straight year that VSU has had a player reach the semi-finals. Last season, Theodore Roosevelt made it to the finals.
