Brian Witherspoon of Stillman College and Terrance Stringer of Tuskegee University are added to the list of NFL hopefuls. Witherspoon signed an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Stringer has verbally agreed to a deal with the New York Giants, but has not signed an official deal as of yet. Witherspoon posted the fastest time of all the NFL draft hopefuls in the 40 yard dash with a time of 4.29. Stringer anchored the HBCU National Champion Tuskegee University Golden Tigers to back to back SIAC titles and an undefeated season in 2007. …read more

Leaving the third floor of Jacob L. Reddix Campus Union, Adrian T. Pittman had a look of defeat after he was told that he was disqualified for campaigning off campus.
Pittman, a junior mass communications major from Calhoun, Miss., ran for Mr. Senior and won, only to find out that his votes would not matter because one of his campaign strategies led to his disqualification. …read more
ED WILLIAMS AND CURTIS JOHNSON ACQUIRED IN NFL ROOKIE FREE AGENCY
The Indianapolis Colts have signed rookie free agent Curtis Johnson and the Tennessee Titans have signed rookie free agent Ed Williams. Johnson came to terms with the Colts over the NFL Draft weekend signing a three year deal while Ed Williams’s contract was undisclosed but he signed on Monday, April 28. …read more
Tuskegee University Claims Both of the SIAC Tennis Championships
Tuscaloosa, AL - Tuskegee University claims both of the SIAC Tennis Championships. Tuskegee’s men win their 29th SIAC title while the women have won their 11th. The men’s championship is their fourth in the last five years.
Tuskegee’s women were led by Jill Person who has dominated the SIAC over the past three years. Person and the rest of her crew quickly took care of Benedict winning easily 5-0. TU swept all of the doubles matches including a big victory by the All Tournament Doubles team of Jill Person and Francine Smith over Shani Jones and Anna Lee Clarke 8-2. Jones was added to the line up after Paola Lopez of Benedict could not play due to injury. TU would only need two victories in singles play for the title and once again Jill Person delivered. Person, the SIAC Regular Season MVP defeated DeAndra Reasonover, SIAC Freshman of the Year, 6-3, 6-0. Tuskegee continued their dominance winning their 11th title and second in the last three years. In the Consolation game Albany State defeated Clark Atlanta by default to finish in 3rd place in the tournament. …read more
Spring Sports Championships KickOff April 16-20
The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will host the annual Spring Sports Championships April 16-20, 2008 in Tuscaloosa, AL on the campus of Stillman College. Highlighting this year’s event is the SIAC Spring Sports Championship Opening Banquet on April 16 at Birthright Gymnasium. At the banquet the SIAC will announce the 2008 All Conference, All Academic, and Superlative Award recipients to over 1,000 participants.
